Is anyone else besides me thinking about boycotting the Denver meeting? Denver has the worst pit-bull ban ever. Or should we all go and demonstrate outside city hall, wearing our 'ban stupid people, not pit bulls' t-shirts?

Thanks so much. You really captured it-what it was like-the nervousness, the work required to pull off something so informal, etc.

But it was also great working with you. You're right our skills are very complimentary and I think we make a very good team. I don't think I'm as much of a lone wolf as you but I can picky about the people I work with, and working wih you was very enjoyable. You really helped make the process and fun and I look forward to that again.

And I also think we came out of it with a great team and friendship.

I think all of the people who asked me about the "Cool Kids" ribbons understood it was all in good fun, but the Twitter comments were kind of ridiculous. Some people are just looking for a reason to be annoyed.

I'm with you on the mug thing. I do not pick up junk from the vendors unless it's useful (the occasional pen, a guide book for the city the conference is in). Additionally, I decided on returning from this year's conference to remove all of the branded stuff from my office and bring in one of my coffee mugs from home. Maybe it serves other purpose than to make me feel better, but that's enough.

I don't think I ever had guacamole until I was in my mid-20s, but now I know its awesomeness.

Thanks for sharing Sarah. I was excited to meet you at LawBerry camp after hearing your webinar on social networking and reading your tweets. As you said though the conference is madness and I never got to talk to you again though I did pass you several times while we were both on the run to something or another. I hadn't been to AALL since 2006 after going every year for ages and I had never experienced the shortened shedule! It is awful. The only way I survived was by skipping some 7 am meetings that I really should have and wanted to go to! Of course I could have skipped the Opening Reception and gone to bed early enough for the 7 am meeting, but what's the fun of that. Thanks for the #coolkids explanation. I was a coolkid back when I was your age though we didn't have ribbons -- I hung out with a group of CS-SIS folks who were a fun group.

P.S. I wanted to get a "coolkids" ribbon, but sort of sensed it was an "in" thing (since I didn't know its provenance). I'm proud of my "Lawberry Camp Unribbon" though...:-) Thanks!

Vendors tread a fine line. Some efforts to draw attention to their products can be a little bit unseemly. And sometimes really transparent. Co-opting #hashtags to make people look isn't cool.

I like your comparing it to how users feel about some librarian presence on social media. The "creepy treehouse" effect, but with librarians and vendors, yes.

Wow. A blog post with chapters. I am SO not worthy.

I laughed out loud at the #coolkids explanation. Even though I saw that happen, I think the knowledge got suppressed in the midst of all the #awkward moments. Good times...

It took me 26 years to discover that I <3 the guac, so don't feel too bad.

Also: I am dying to know about (c) in the final chapter.
